Job Summary:
The Controller will plan and direct the financial and accounting operations of Hale County Health Care Authority including Hale County Hospital, Hale County Hospital Home Health Agency, Hale County Hospital Clinic, and Moundville Medical Associates.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
· Oversees the operations of Materials Management including, Purchasing, Supplies Inventories, and other related areas.
· Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
· Production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards in a timely manner
· Provides relevant financial information to executive management team
· Maintains all banking accounts
· Responsible for the various ledgers including cash disbursements, cash receipts, accounts payable, month-end payroll summary, accounts receivable summary, and journal entries to adjust the general ledger
· Generates reports including accounts payable reconciliation, accounts receivable reconciliation, cash flow report, and balance sheet audits
· Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
· Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management
· Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
· Posts journal entries to general ledger
· Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures
· Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit
· Processes payroll and prepares necessary payroll reports
· Collaborates with the Revenue Cycle team to track and monitor financial metrics, deadlines, and key performance indicators
· Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
· Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, preferred
· Five years or more of related experience required
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
· Able to travel as needed
