Overview: Designs and maintains a reliable, secure and efficient telecommunication environment.
Be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor all telecommunication equipment and circuits in order to ensure smooth operations.
Lead as a senior member on Technology team projects when called upon.
Responsibilities: Establishes telecommunication systems deployment and configuration by; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; performing phone system administration, including interface configuration and phone call routing protocols.
Establishes a stable telecommunication environment by evaluating performance issues including availability, utilization, jitter, and latency; recommends the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; establishing connections on site and to external users.
Takes a technical lead in projects as they relate to IT telecommunications management.
Leads in developing telecommunication related policies and procedures.
Prepares IT team members by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support documentation.
Plans future network upgrades by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Develops and implements cost savings and performance improvement processes.
DCH Standards: Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.
Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.
Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Minimum of High school diploma or GED required.
Associates, technical, or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience and or industry standard certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
Industry standard certification with emphasis on Telephone Systems and Voice Over IP.
Specific experience with phone system administration in a 2000 user or greater environment is a requirement.
10 years of hands on phone system administration and support experience required.
5 Years of Voice Over IP experience required.
Advanced knowledge of TDM Circuits, Voice Over IP, Faxing, SIP Trunks, Call Routing, digital and analog phone system wiring plans and Network Security applications.
Experience managing VMWare virtual environments a plus.
Experience with Avaya PBX a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make formal presentations required.
Exhibits interpersonal skills and abilities to deal effectively with all levels of personnel.
Possess strong skills in network troubleshooting with an emphasis on VOIP, phone system routing and WAN technology.
Qualifications: Minimum of High school diploma or GED required.

OTHER JOB FACTORS Must have a valid Alabama driver’s license and the ability to travel to all Health System facilities.
