Essential Duties Primary responsibilities include (a.
) teaching undergraduate and graduate special education courses (4-4 load with summer teaching possibilities) and academic advising, (b.
) providing service to the profession (scholarly work) and participating in professional development, and (c.
) providing service to the Program, Department, School of Education, and University.
Minimum Qualifications · An earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field with special education emphasis, from a regionally accredited institution, or evidence of 30 minimum academic credit hours toward a doctorate degree with special education emphasis from a regionally accredited institution · A minimum of 3 years of P-12 special education teaching experience or classroom experience with diverse learners with disabilities (i.
e.
, ESL, low SES, race/ethnicity, culture and language, etc.
) · Computer literacy and familiarity with technological trends and best practices in schools, including high-leverage practices, MTSS, and PBIS · Previous or current experience with higher education teaching and curriculum development preferred · Experience teaching in an online environment preferred · Experience supervising student teachers preferred Job Description Summary Mississippi University for Women invites applications for a non-tenure/tenure-track Instructor/Assistant/Associate/Professor faculty position in Special Education in the Department of Education beginning fall 2024.
With excellence in teaching, scholarly activities, and service, this faculty position is responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate special education courses (4-4 load with summer teaching possibilities) and is involved in academic advising.
In addition to carrying out an agenda of scholarly work and professional development (research, conference participation, etc.
), this faculty position is responsible for providing service to the Program, Department, and School of Education (participating in student recruitment and retention strategies, learning outcomes assessment and program assessment, accreditation reporting, and School of Education initiatives related to innovations in curriculum and delivery) as well as service to the University as appropriate.

Computer literacy and familiarity with technological trends and best practices in schools, including high-leverage practices, MTSS, and PBIS are required.
Previous or current experience with higher education teaching and curriculum development, teaching in an online environment, and supervising student teachers are preferred.
