Essential Duties
The RA/Honors Mentor’s primary responsibility is to act as a facilitator for the Living-Learning Community and to enhance the social, educational, spiritual, intellectual, physical, vocational, cultural, and environmental development of each resident.
The RA/Honors Mentor articulates for students the philosophy and policies of Housing, the Honors College, and the University.
The RA/Honors Mentor represents the Office of Housing & Residence Life and the Honors College and acts as a role model for students.
Minimum Qualifications
Student must be a member in good standing of the Honors College at the time of application.
Student must be in good academic and judicial standing with MUW or transfer university.
Student must attend both Fall and Spring trainings.
Completion of 30 credit hours at the end of the spring semester prior to employment start date.
Job Description Summary
Resident Advisors/Honors Mentors are an integral part of Housing & Residence Life and the Gordy Honors College.
RAs/Honors Mentors have direct and ongoing contact with students in the Honors Living-Learning Communities in Grossnickle Hall and Kincannon Hall.
The six basic roles of the RA/Honors Mentor are 1) Community Facilitator, 2) Referral Agent, 3) Team Member, 4) Administrator, 5) Programmer, and 6) University Representative.
The RA/Honors Mentor reports to the Residence Director, the professional staff member over the residence hall, and the Director of the Honors College.
