Essential Duties
Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Biology at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2024.
A background and training in Ecology is required.
The successful candidate will teach Ecology courses in the BS Biology Major, teach introductory courses for Biology Majors and non-science majors, and teach upper-year courses in their biological area of expertise.
It is preferred that applicants have a doctorate in a suitable biological field, and a commitment to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Service to the department, university, and community is expected.
A viable research plan that incorporates undergraduate involvement is preferred but not necessary.

In addition to campus resources, the successful applicant will also have access to the Plymouth Bluff Environmental Center, a 190-acre educational and recreational center situated above the old Tombigbee River channel and located a 15-minute drive from campus.
Also nearby and available for class or research activities are the Noxubee Wildlife Refuge and the Tombigbee, Buttahatchie, and Luxapalia Rivers.
Interactions and collaborations are also possible with Mississippi State University, a 25-minute drive from campus.
