Essential Duties
The Department of Languages, Literature, and Philosophy anticipates the need for part-time time-limited, non-tenure track positions.
Adjunct instructors may be needed to teach courses which may include EN 100 Basic Writing, EN 101 English Composition I, EN 102 English Composition II, EN 201, EN 202, EN 203, EN 204, EN 231, or EN 232 Survey of Early or Late English, American, or World Literature.
If the candidate is qualified, to teach upper-level classes, these may include but are not limited to EN 410 Methods and Materials in Secondary English and ED 409 Student Internship supervising English students.
Most courses will be taught face-to-face, though some online teaching may be available.
Minimum Qualifications
MA in English or a related field
PhD or ABD in English preferred for upper-level teaching
For EN 410 and ED 409 at least 3 years of secondary English teaching experience preferred
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to work with students and colleagues
Experience teaching the assigned course or courses at the undergraduate level preferred
Availability to teach face-to-face classes in Columbus, Mississippi, preferred
