*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* To adequately fulfill this position, the employee should be able to
perform the following, with or without accommodations:

Instruct driving courses for students.
2.
Create lesson plans and administer tests.
3.
Perform curriculum development.
4.
Evaluate students' work and their progress, providing feedback as needed.
5.
Provide behind-the-wheel driving lessons for students.
* Operate a computer and other office productivity equipment.
* Frequently communicate with employees, employers, coworkers, and consumers.
*QUALIFICATIONS:*
*Educational: *State of Alabama Driver and Traffic Safety Teaching Certificate; pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver’s license, and possess a clean driving record.
Must be capable of working with individuals who have a disability.
*JOB SUMMARY:*
The driver education instructor is responsible for teaching consumers the rules of the road and the safe way to handle an automobile.
*Work Experience: *This person is expected to have extensive work experience in the field of driver’s education training.
*DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:*
1.
Maintain current information regarding driving laws in the State of Alabama.
2.
Establish and maintain a driver education curriculum to best serve enrolled consumers.
3.
Facilitate driver education in a small group or individual setting.
4.
Provide one-on-one driver education road instruction.
5.
Take consumers to the Department of Motor Vehicles to take the written permit and road test.
6.
Complete billing reports when consumers pass the written and road test.
7.
Maintain a list of consumers and their attendance.
8.
Communicate with the Transportation Supervisor when service or repairs are needed for the Driver’s Education Vehicle.
9.
Will carry out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
*QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED*:
To qualify for employment at this level, the individual must possess a valid state driver’s license.
It is desired That an applicant for this position meets a minimum of two years of high school training andhasd some work experience as a vehicle operator.
A current motor vehicle record will be obtained from the State of Alabama to verify an acceptable driver’s record.
