Department/Organization 207451 - Journalism and Creative Media Rank Associate/Full Professor Position Summary Primary duties will include teaching journalism and/or mass communication courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, engaging in a research program that results in published articles in outstanding scholarly publications and performing service as assigned by the Department, College and University.
Detailed Position Information The department seeks a colleague whose research, teaching, and leadership is making contributions to advancing the study and practice of journalism and/or mass communication by collaboratively building in areas such as media effects, digital journalism, political and/or health communication, and emerging media technologies.
The successful candidate will have an internationally recognized record of innovative research/creative scholarship, with an established history of seeking and obtaining external funding.
Minimum Qualifications · Doctorate in journalism and mass communication or related field.
· Tenure and promotion at a research institution.
· Record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and/or with reputable academic presses that merits strong consideration for tenure and promotion at a research institution.
· Record of teaching effectiveness in journalism and mass communication or a related field that merits strong consideration for tenure and promotion at a research institution.
· Record of seeking external funding.

· Experience advising and mentoring graduate students.
· Record of leadership in internationally renowned conferences, peer-reviewed journals, or research centers.
· Professional experience in journalism and media or related field.

The department consists of 35 faculty and more than 900 undergraduate and graduate student majors.
JCM’s undergraduate news media major and professional master’s programs are accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism & Mass Communications.
The College of Communication & Information Sciences includes the departments of Advertising and Public Relations, Communication Studies, and the School of Library and Information Studies.
The college has approximately 100 full-time faculty members serving over 3,000 students across bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs, including approximately 80 students in the college-wide, multi-disciplinary Ph.
