Job Summary: The Academic Advisor I is an entry level advising position.
Under direct supervision, the Advisor I will be engaged in academic advising activities that support UA at the institution or college level.
Additional Department Summary: The Academic Advisor I directs the academic advising of all UA Online students.
Develops each student’s first-semester plan of study.
Leads students through online orientation.
Ensures students enroll in appropriate academic courses.
Coordinates communication between appropriate UA Online staff and advisors in academic departments.
Maintains appropriate database systems and records.
Assists in orientation completion, communication creation, and data collection of UA Online programs and services.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of work experience in higher or continuing education, or technology.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to plan, develop, and administer academic advising with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse groups of online students.
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional technology, communications, or business.
Experience with database management.
Experience with customer relationship management systems.
Experience with UA systems (i.
e.
Banner, SARS).
