Start Date: July 1, 2024 JOB GOAL: To serve as the administrative leader of the Alternative School Program, to assure a safe and positive learning environment for the students and staff assigned to the Alternative School, and to assist the Superintendent in the operation of the Bibb County Schools.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree and valid certification in teaching and school administration.
Verified proof of three (3) years’ successful experience as a teacher.
Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office software and other pertinent software programs Possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license and BCS insurable driving record Background clearance through FBI and ABI ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Serve as the on-site administrator of students and staff of the Alternative School and supervise all aspects of its instructional program.
Organize and provide a safe and orderly environment that facilitates learning.
Supervise students at all times on campus; monitor students during lunch and other activities.
Maintain standards of student discipline designed to command the respect of students and to minimize interruptions of learning.
Administer compulsory School Attendance Law by maintaining open communication with all school officials regarding student absences and truancies.
Collaborate with juvenile court concerning student attendance/truancy matters.
Attend juvenile court, as needed, when students and/or parents appear regarding attendance matters.
Contact parents regarding truant students.
Prepare all reports related to student truancy.
Keep accurate records; file reports, forms, and documents as required in a timely manner.
Exhibit active personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics.
Regular and punctual attendance required; full compliance with BCS sick leave and personal leave policies.
Drive vehicles to accomplish assigned work tasks; promptly report loss of credentials to operate vehicles.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assume other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to work assigned hours and additional hours as required.
Ability to use effective interpersonal and collaborative skills necessary for the successful implementation of programs, the coordination of committees, and to maintain productive relationships among colleagues.
Ability to develop working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
Knowledge of BCS Board policies and procedures.
Knowledge of state and local attendance laws and procedures.
Knowledge of state and local school plans for general programs.
Knowledge of school law and related state and federal mandates.
Knowledge in computer software and hardware; skill in spreadsheet and database applications, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Effective oral and written communication and leadership skills.
Excellent organizational and administrative skills Knowledge of first aid procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about the school, as needed, in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.
Stoop, climb, sit, squat, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds) on a frequent basis.
Adequate strength, dexterity, agility, and aural and visual acuity to perform all work
