General Function
Responsible for ensuring a safe flying environment during airfield operating hours and provide professional customer service to the Columbus flying community at all times.
Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)
Maintain situational awareness of airfield activities and overall responsibility for AM section while on duty.
Serve as the representative for the AFM during emergency response situations and during AFM's non-duty hours.
Assess airfield operations/situations, determine operational requirements and impose airfield restrictions as needed (e.
g.
, closing/suspending operations on aprons, taxiways and runways).
Brief AM personnel on emergency and operational activities.
Conduct and document a shift change briefing prior to signing off-duty.
Conduct airfield inspections and checks.
Perform Airfield Management Operations Coordinator (AMOC) duties as required to support airfield/flying operations.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities
Complete understanding of the flying mission, aircraft characteristics, airfield criteria/standards, Civil Engineering/Safety, Air Force Instructions and Air Force Manuals, aircraft maintenance support, impact of weather on operations and the effect of various support activities on flight operations in required.
Must have experience in creating flight plans, NOTAMs, and working directly on an airfield.
Drug Screen and Background Check: Pass with the ability to maintain throughout employment.
Minimum Experience & Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Have at least 3 years of experience executing AMSL duties and responsibilities.
Must have experience in creating flight plans, NOTAMs, and working directly on an airfield.
Complete local qualification training requirements, and AMSL/AMOS Position Certification Guide (PCG) or conduct a document review of the most current United States Air Force PCG for the duty position being filled within six months of hire.
Complete 5-level task items identified in the Airfield Management Career Field Education and Training Plan.
